03 / MORE THAN SOUND INSULATION
A1 reaction-to-fire classification: non-combustible mineral blocks for your walls.
Compressive strengths of 10 or 15 MPa provide a robust masonry base for everyday use. Structural and seismic design remains with your project engineer.
With block thicknesses starting at 115 mm, Silka offers compact internal walls that help balance usable space and acoustic comfort.
Dense masonry stores heat and helps moderate temperature changes. Pair external Silka walls with Multipor insulation for a combined acoustic and thermal solution.
Sand, lime and water form the basis of calcium silicate blocks. A straightforward mineral material for robust, long-term masonry.
Tongue-and-groove profiles and accurate dimensions help your contractor build even, well-aligned walls.

RECOMMENDED FOR EXTERNAL WALLS
Our recommended block for external wall masonry: excellent sound insulation, with improved thermal performance when combined with Multipor external insulation.
The 200 mm Silka Light masonry forms the sound-insulating wall, while the external Multipor mineral insulation layer helps reduce heat transfer. Together, they create a mineral wall system designed for acoustic and thermal comfort.
Explore Multipor insulation
| Wall construction | Sound insulation, Rw | Thermal transmittance, U |
|---|---|---|
| 200 mm Silka Light, without plaster | 53 dB | Not stated in this brochure |
| 200 mm Silka Light + 20 mm plaster on each side | 56 dB | Not stated in this brochure |
| 200 mm Silka Light + 100 mm Multipor, rendered facade system | 55 dB | 0.315 W/(m²·K) |
| 200 mm Silka Light + 100 mm Multipor, ventilated facade system | 60 dB | 0.315 W/(m²·K) |
Values apply to the wall constructions listed in the Silka Light brochure. Rw measures airborne sound insulation; a lower U-value means less heat transfer through the wall.

08 / YOUR QUESTIONS
Yes. Dense Silka masonry reduces the transmission of airborne sound such as voices and television through the wall. For apartment boundaries, compare the 175NF and 200NF options with your designer. See the wall ratings and test conditions.
Rw is a weighted measure of airborne sound insulation: a higher value indicates better performance in the laboratory test. The technical table gives the wall build-ups and test conditions behind the three NF ratings.
Its dense mineral structure adds mass to the wall, helping reduce the transmission of airborne sound between spaces. This makes sound insulation an integral part of the masonry.
Silka can be considered for a new or additional bedroom wall. Before adding masonry, have a designer check the source and route of the noise, the available room space and the floor’s capacity for the extra weight. This helps establish whether a wall upgrade is the right solution for your home.
We recommend Silka 200 Light combined with Multipor external mineral insulation for excellent sound insulation and improved thermal performance. The brochure lists Rw 55 dB for the rendered facade system and Rw 60 dB for the ventilated facade system, both with 100 mm Multipor and U = 0.315 W/(m²·K). These figures describe the respective complete wall constructions. Compare Silka Light wall constructions.
Xella describes enhanced Silka wall systems with additional linings reaching up to 70 dB. For that target, your designer needs to specify the complete tested system using its supporting report. The standard NF options on this page are rated at 53–58 dB with the stated plaster finish.
Indicative prices for blocks with adhesive delivered to your site are €75/m² for 115NF, €115/m² for 175NF, €125/m² for 200NF and €100/m² for 200 Light. Prices require confirmation before ordering. Arvit Services supplies materials only; blocklaying, finishing and other construction work are excluded. View prices and supply details.
Footsteps and vibration often travel through floors and structural connections. These need a solution designed for the transmission path, which may include floor or ceiling treatment. A designer can identify the route before you invest in changing the wall.
Send the project town, construction stage, wall plans or dimensions, wall heights and openings, and the developer’s current wall specification if available. Mark the walls you want to upgrade. We can prepare a material supply quote for discussion with your developer or contractor.
